Shreyas Iyer to Pause Red-Ball Career

One of the best IPL players (he plays for PBKS), Shreyas Iyer, shared important information with the BCCI. According to the middle-order batter, he would like to withdraw from playing for the Indian national team in the red-ball format for a certain period. This is due to the fact that the player is experiencing back problems and would like to effectively treat it. Iyer does not plan to end his career in this format but simply wants to return to his optimal form.

What happened 

Indian fans suspected something was wrong when Shreyas withdrew from a four-day match against Australia A. At the same time, he was supposed to be the captain of India in this clash. It is reported that the player discussed the situation with the BCCI and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. He explained that in early September, during a game for the West Zone in the Duleep Trophy, he experienced discomfort in his back. The problems did not subside when the cricketer joined the Indian national team. 

It is important to note that in 2023, Iyer underwent back surgery. However, he does not plan to end his cricket career in the Test format. It is possible that the player will miss the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, but, as a source familiar with the situation reported, after that he will return even stronger than before.
