Former Delhi Captain Set to Lead BCCI

Former Delhi captain to lead BCCI

Soon, the BCCI will have a new president. It is expected that the position will be taken by the well-known former player Mithun Manhas. This is because, by the deadline for submitting applications for various positions on the Council, he was the only candidate for the presidency. Since August, this post has been vacant and was temporarily held by Rajeev Shukla, the BCCI vice-president.

Rich experience in cricket

Manhas will turn 46 in October 2025. He has a rich career in cricket, both as a player and as a coach. In particular, he has been a coach and consultant for a number of IPL franchises: PBKS, RCB, and GT. Mithun has extensive experience in cricket. From 1997 to 2017, he played 157 first-class games, amassing 9,714 runs. In 130 List A clashes, the cricketer has 4,126 runs, and he scored 1,179 runs in 91 T20s.

Are the appointments a foregone conclusion?

The candidacies for various positions in the BCCI were agreed upon at a recent informal meeting involving key figures in Indian cricket. The official elections are scheduled for September 28. If no other candidates emerge by that day, the appointments are considered a foregone conclusion.
