Sunil Joshi Bids Farewell to PBKS, May Take Up Role at BCCI’s CoE
The IPL 2025 season could have been the best in history for the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The team made it to the playoffs final but lost the championship title to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite achieving their highest result since 2014, when they were also runners-up, changes are expected within the franchise.
What happened
Recently, Sunil Joshi, the spin-bowling coach at PBKS, decided to leave the squad. He officially informed the management of his decision, and the team later confirmed his departure in a statement, thanking him for his effective work. The franchise emphasized that it does not intend to hinder anyone’s career growth if such opportunities arise.
According to insiders, Joshi is likely to join the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, which is part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) structure. At 55 years old, Joshi intends to continue contributing to national cricket. He has previously served as a chief selector and selector for the BCCI.
