Sanju Samson Could Be Traded to KKR
The previous IPL season was unsuccessful for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), as the squad finished ninth in the standings and failed to qualify for the playoffs. In the upcoming season, the team aims to improve its performance, but this will likely be without their current captain, Sanju Samson.
What happened
Currently, it is the IPL offseason, and franchises are looking to strengthen their squads. Samson has decided to leave RR, and the only remaining questions are which team he will join and what compensation that team will have to pay. According to insiders, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are not a likely new club for the cricketer, despite previous media reports of interest from him.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), however, are showing a keen interest in Sanju, whom they see as a potential leader for their roster. The past IPL season was a weak one for the team, as they finished eighth and failed to make the playoffs, indicating that changes are necessary.
Potential trade candidates
Insiders report that KKR could offer one of the following five players in exchange for Samson:
- Varun Chakravarthy;
- Angkrish Raghuvanshi;
- Ramandeep Singh;
- Sunil Narine;
- Venkatesh Iyer.
Additionally, KKR is also in need of a new head coach. The club recently parted ways with Chandrakant Pandit, and it is expected that they may offer the vacant position to Kumar Sangakkara, who is currently the Director of Cricket at RR.
