LSG has brought in New Zealand batting star Kane Williamson as a strategic advisor ahead of the IPL. The cricketer, who played for Durban Super Giants in the SA20 league this year, will now help guide LSG’s strategy and planning.

For LSG, personnel changes are of great importance, given the recent setbacks. They had a disappointing IPL 2025, finishing 7th out of 10 and missing the postseason. The franchise is yet to win its first IPL title, and Williamson’s experience is expected to bring guidance and stability to the squad in the upcoming season. Kane joins a backroom staff that recently saw another key addition, with Bharat Arun coming in as bowling coach after four years with KKR.
About Williamson
Williamson is the former New Zealand skipper. He is among five Kiwi players who declined central contracts to play in leagues worldwide. Kane hasn’t retired from international cricket and is set to represent New Zealand in next year’s T20 World Cup.
The 10-season IPL veteran played for SRH from 2015 to 2022, earning the Orange Cap in 2018 with 735 runs. After captaining SRH, he moved to the Gujarat Titans in 2023 but could play only one match due to injury. In 2024, he featured in two clashes. In the 2025 IPL mega auction, Williamson went unsold.
