Arshdeep Singh Injures Hand During India’s Practice Session

The Indian team continues its tour of England as part of a five-match Test series against the local team. After three tests, the Three Lions are winning 2:1, and India cannot afford to lose any more matches. The fourth Test starts on Tuesday, July 23, in Manchester. The Men in Blue coaching staff will have to consider which players can compete for victory, given that pacer Arshdeep Singh has been injured.
What happened?
During training in Manchester on July 17, Singh cut his bowling hand. This happened when he tried to stop a shot from Sai Sudharsan. Indian medical specialists immediately began examining the player to determine whether he needed stitches. There is no information on this yet, as a more thorough examination is required, but whether or not stitches are needed will determine whether the player will be included in the roster for the match against England.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is expected to take part in the upcoming match because he has recovered from an injury to his left index finger sustained in the match against England at Lord’s.
Will Bumrah Play?
An effective solution to replace the injured Singh in the roster seems to be the inclusion of star player Jasprit Bumrah. India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said that this option is being seriously considered. According to him, the decision will be made in Manchester, and it was previously decided that the cricketer would play in at least one of the two Tests. Considering that India only needs to win the fourth match, Jasprit will most likely be involved in it.
