IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans’ Captain Shubman Gill Provides Update on Kagiso Rabada’s Return

On April 19, Gujarat Titans (GT) won by 7 wickets (with 4 balls remaining) against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 35th match of the 18th IPL season. The win allowed them to catch up with their defeated rivals at the top of the standings.

GT Playing Without Rabada 

Despite GT’s strong IPL season, their roster is not optimal. Their leading pacer, Kagiso Rabada, has urgently left for South Africa for personal reasons. He featured in the first two matches in the current tournament, taking one wicket each against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI). The player’s absence is a significant problem for Gujarat’s pace attack. In his absence, other bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, take the extra load.

Return to the Crucial Stages of the Season 

During the toss against DC, captain Shubman Gill provided an update on Rabada’s return. He said that Rabada is expected to return in about ten days. Based on the player’s words, it can be inferred that Rabada will be fully available either in the last matches of the IPL 2025 regular season or in the playoffs if Titans qualify for it. Though their results make it hard to doubt that this goal will be achieved.
