IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans Defeated Mumbai Indians by 36 Runs

On Saturday, 29 March, the Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a 36-run victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Ahmedabad. GT posted a total of 196 for 8. Sai Sudharsan played a vital role with 63 off 41 balls, and Jos Buttler contributed 39. Despite Hardik Pandya’s return from a ban for over-rate, MI struggled in all departments. It’s the team’s second loss in two games of the season, but there’s not much time to sort out the mistakes.
The Second Fifty for Sudharsan
GT’s openers, Shubman Gill and Sudharsan had a great stretch on the powerplay, scoring a combined 66 runs. The former scored 38, while the latter posted his second fifty in two matches. Nevertheless, MI was able to impose the fight on the opponent who had lost the lead. Indians dismissed Gill and limited the scoring rate.
GT’s Disciplined Bowling
MI lost early wickets in an attempt to reach 197. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Rohit Sharma. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav attempted to stabilize the innings. They managed to add 62 for the third wicket. But Prasidh Krishna’s effective use of slower balls proved decisive. He dismissed Tilak and then Suryakumar. Pandya struggled, and MI’s lower order couldn’t muster the required late surge. GT’s bowling ensured MI finished at 160 for 6.
Upcoming Schedule
With this win, GT improved their record to 1-1. Their next match will be against the unbeaten Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 2 in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, MI will look to bounce back when they face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 31. The team aims to secure its first victory of the season.
