IPL 2025: Shardul Thakur and Nicholas Pooran Power LSG to Victory Over SRH

Victory of Lucknow Super Giants IPL 2025

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won for the first time in the ongoing IPL 2025 season on Thursday, March 27. The team beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Hyderabad by five wickets (with 23 balls remaining) – 193/5 against 190/9. Shardul Thakur and Nicholas Puran were the main protagonists in LSG’s lineup, implementing its strategy for the clash.

The LSG Strategy has Paid Off

SRH reached 286 in their first match of the season, so fans were right to expect the team to try to surpass 300 this time around. And it seemed to be a realistic possibility. SRH started the match aggressively and efficiently, thanks to Travis Head, who scored 47 off 28 balls. But with time, LSG rectified the situation. Thakur demonstrated disciplined and effective bowling. He consistently dismissed Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Aniket Verma, picking up 4 for 34, his best figures in the IPL.

LSG was then led by Pooran, who scored 70 off just 26 balls, with six fours and six sixes, at a strike rate of 269.23, well supported by Mitchell Marsh with a 31-ball 52. An aggressive batting strategy enabled the team to secure a vital win with 23 balls to spare.
