IPL: Chandrakant Pandit’s Tenure as KKR Head Coach Ends

The IPL off-season is underway, and there is some high-profile news emerging from the franchises. One of them was the announcement by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) that Chandrakant Pandit will no longer coach the team.

What happened 

KKR failed to make the postseason in the last IPL tournament. They won five matches out of 14 and finished only eighth. This is a significant setback for a franchise that was the league champion in 2024. For this reason, experts and fans expected the Knight Riders management to decide to part ways with Pandit. Although in the official statement of the team, it was stated that the specialist chose to peruse new options to continue his career on his own. So far, there has been no news about who will become the new head coach of the club.

Coach results 

Pandit started coaching KKR in August 2022, replacing Brendon McCullum as head coach. The team under his leadership won 22 matches out of 42, losing in 18 with two no-results. In 2024, Chandrakant led the franchise to a championship title, which was the franchise’s first in a decade. In an official statement, the team thanked him for his contributions to the team’s results, especially the championship title.
