MS Dhoni’s MI Jersey Sparks IPL Speculation

The 2025 IPL season was not successful for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but the team’s fans remain hopeful as long as the legendary MS Dhoni is part of the roster. But a recent event has stirred up Indian cricket fans and sparked a debate about whether the celebrated player might change teams before the start of IPL 2026.

What happened? 

MS Dhoni has not officially announced whether he will play in the new IPL season, but he also hasn’t stated otherwise. On Tuesday, October 7th, a photo began circulating on social media and quickly became a hot topic of discussion. The photo showed the legendary cricketer posing with his teammates after a casual football game. Fans immediately noticed that Dhoni was wearing a Mumbai Indians (MI) jersey. Some fans interpreted this as a sign that the player might be ready to join another team, thus ending his 18-year association with CSK. 

In May, fans had asked Dhoni if he would continue playing for CSK in IPL 2026. At that time, Dhoni did not give a definitive answer, stating that he would have four to five months to make a decision. It’s worth noting that the Super Kings finished last in the previous season for the first time in the last 16 seasons, winning only four out of 14 matches.
