Rishabh Pant Nears Return After Manchester Test Setback
Rishabh Pant, a player for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL, suffered a foot injury during the fourth Test in Manchester in the Anderson–Tendulkar series. He was struck on his right foot by a delivery from Chris Woakes, but returned to bat the next day. This decision ended up slowing his recovery.
Details about the injury
Pant was diagnosed with a fracture of the fifth metatarsal, which typically takes around six weeks to heal. Players usually return to action about two weeks after the bone has set. However, coming back too soon worsened his injury.
Expected comeback
The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is scheduled to undergo a fitness test at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on October 10. He is expected to play for the Delhi team in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. In England, the cricketer scored 479 runs in four Tests, with an average of 68.42.
